about me

Josephine Elizabeth Kasper

Marriage & Family Therapist

Becoming a therapist began while pursuing a degree in dance and grew out of my fascination with what I call: the dance of life. Like most dances, I soon noticed that life choices are often delicate, and sometimes we are out-of-step.

I have a passion for empowering others to claim success in their health and wellbeing. I believe we have all suffered emotional trauma that informs our daily approach to life.

I work from a systemic lens combined with therapeutic approaches like cognitive/behavioral therapy, gestalt therapy, trauma-informed care, positive psychology, solution-focused therapy, and humanistic philosophy. I teach and promote mindfulness and meditation in my sessions, with part of my practice dedicated to wellness education through integrative/holistic health.

My experience includes working with military members, patients in the Kaiser Permanente medical system, adolescents in group homes and school settings, and couples/families in private practice. I have specialized experience in treating: ADHD, PTSD, chronic pain, chronic health management, transition-related issues or adjustment disorders, interpersonal effectiveness, relationship conflict, and familial stress.

I possess a Certificate in Integrative Health (Integrative Health and Lifestyle Program) from the University of Arizona, Center for Integrative Medicine, founded by Dr. Andrew Weil.

I hold both Arizona and California MFT licenses (#15295 & #86892) and obtained an MA in Marital and Family Therapy from Alliant International University (San Diego Campus).

If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your own estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.
